One Year Stronger
By Emily Swinford, REALTOR® | Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate – The Good Life Group
As the year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on what the past twelve months brought — the wins, the challenges, the growth, and the moments that mattered most. Like many years in real estate, this one came with a noticeable market shift, and navigating it alongside my clients made the work even more meaningful.
As a Glenwood, Iowa real estate agent serving Mills County and Southwest Iowa, I had the privilege of helping 70 buyers and sellers close on properties this year. Behind every closing was a unique story — new jobs, growing families, downsizing decisions, and fresh starts. With higher interest rates, changing buyer expectations, and more price-sensitive markets, education and honest conversations became more important than ever.
Navigating a Changing Market
The real estate market shifted quickly this year. Homes took longer to sell, buyers had more options, and negotiations became more strategic. Helping clients adapt — whether that meant pricing adjustments, creative solutions, or patience — reinforced why advocacy and experience matter in today’s market.
Community Events That Matter
Beyond buying and selling homes, community remains at the heart of what we do. This year included our 7th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast, our 8th Annual Dog Days of Summer veterans hot dog feed, 3rd Music Bingo, and our 8th Annual client pie giveaway party. These events are never about business — they’re about connection, gratitude, and showing up for the people who support us.
Growing Our Team & Systems
This year also marked one year in our new office, hiring our first high school intern, and formalizing our marketing plan to ensure every client receives the same consistent level of service. Heather had a record year, and Leann and Jennie continue to be the backbone of this business — steady, creative, and incredibly dedicated.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we head into the new year, I’m excited about what’s ahead. We have new agents joining the team in 2026, continued growth planned, and the same commitment to serving clients and community with care and integrity.
Thank you to everyone who trusted us this year. I’m proud of what we’ve built — and even more excited for what’s next.
